VCGLR changes the goal posts on catering - but doesn't tell anyone

It was historical practice of both the VCGLR, and its predecessor, to approve off-site catering under sections 9(1)(b) and 9A(1)(b) of the Act without listing any premises in the licence. Whilst it is now the practice to list authorised premises on licences, there are a number of on-premises and restaurant and cafe licences operating under the historical approach.

Given these historic authorities may not meet the legislative requirements and the VCGLR’s current approach, it is important for licensees that do not have premises for off-site catering listed on the licence that they need to seek to have these added.

This is particularly the case if they are seeking to transfer a licence.
